South Florida Hunger Coalition site

We are proud to support Baking4Changea program created by American Heritage students in Broward County

to provide fresh-baked food products for distribution by the SFHC to those individuals, families and pantries in need in South Florida.

These "baked with love"distributions are protected by the federal “Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act.”

This act to encourages donations of food and grocery products to non-profit organizations for distribution to those in need.

This law protects you from liability when you donate to a non-profit organization; and provides that the recipient nonprofit organization

that receives the donation shall not be subject to civil or criminal liability arising from the nature, age, packaging, or condition

of apparently wholesome food or an apparently fit grocery product. The law also protects you from civil and criminal liability

should the product donated in good faith later cause harm to the recipient and sets a floor of

"gross negligence" or intentional misconduct for persons who donate grocery products.
